Car damaged by Van driver

Options
Hi all,

Please I need advise on an ongoing issue.

On 10 March 2016, an Autoglass driver came to my work place to repair a colleague's and he ended up crashing into my parked car, damaging my bumper, headlight and the passenger side of the car (Please note that it's a private gated car park owned by my employer) The driver gave me his name and his manager's name and number and also Autoglass' number. Since then I have been calling the mobile number he gave me and phone just rings, I have also sent a text message to number and no reply. I have called Autoglass' customer services thrice and the advisers always takes my details and promise someone will call me back but no one has done so. I have pictures of the damage and also the Autoglass van.

I have contacted my insurance and been told that if I want to go through them I will have to pay the excess and then chase up Autoglass for reimbursement, they said I did not take the legal representation option so they will not be supporting with that. The other option given me is for me to chase Autoglass and claim directly on their own insurance, but as stated above they are not playing ball.

I went to the car's manufacturer and has been told I will need to supply them with the claim reference number from Autoglass' insurance and then bring the car in.

What can I do to get this issue rectified.

  • Look up the Autoglass van's registration number on AskMID.com, pay your 2 quid or whatever it is for the insurer's details, and then contact them and ask to claim against them. Job done.
