Praise for Argos

Just some praise and info:

I stopped using Argos some time ago as their delivery service was so terrible. Two that spring to mind were a 2 month wait for a mattress and a month wait for washing machine.

Anyway, I needed a very narrow bookcase and decided to have a look at Argos. I ordered it as 5.45pm last night, paid £3.95 for delivery between 10-1pm today.

I had a text this morning saying my item had been despatched and my slot was 10-11pm. It has just arrived.

I was speaking to the delivery man, saying what a good service this was and why I hadn't used it for a long time.

He noted that Argos had changed their delivery system- small(ish) things that are kept in store- small furniture, some washing machines and all the usual things are now delivered from the closest Argos- so mine came from the one 25 miles away rather than the central depot. He said that deliveries had improved since this happened.

I can't comment on the big items obviously (I guess they still come from the central depot) but I will definitely use them again for the smaller things.:D

    Agree with praise for Argos.

Used 'Fast Track' for the first time on Sunday. Saw TV stand I wanted, at half price. Ordered on-line at 4.30pm with delivery time slot of 7pm - 10pm. Our local Argos had closed at 4.30pm, but this delivery would come from larger store 10 miles away.

Was very doubtful that this would happen, but just after 6pm received e-mail giving delivery time of 7pm - 9pm and delivery arrived at 7.40pm. Cheerful driver said that this delivery service was proving very popular. I think there are 4 slots a day and you can order up to 1 hour before a slot (if space available). Charge of £3.95 was very reasonable for this service and I would certainly use again.

Should add, though, that when I got e-mail from Argos yesterday about half-price sale, I looked on website and TV stand I had bought at half price - £49.99 on Sunday, was now showing at full price of £99.99. Glad I bought 3 days ago.

Love argos but hate everything to do with the online site. 4 times I've had my money taken from my bank and not refunded for near on 2 weeks due to a fault on their side with the fast collection.

Final straw was the tele, £300 for one few days after xmas, only a small one to get us through - took the money, didn't deliver waited until 6th January for it back.

Do love the same day delivery though. I won't shop their anymore for above reasons but hopefully it keeps getting better. Hasn't sainsburys just bought them out?
