New Food mixer - which to buy?

I need a new food mixer. I have a budget of up to £300. It should be multi function (sauces, pasta, bread, cakes, jam) , easy to clean (as much of it as possible to go in dishwasher) , efficient (blades to scrape bowl), flexible (attachments available)

At present I am debating between Kenwood kmixx and Heston B's mixer for Lakeland. Any views? Also for the Kenwood range what do the different model numbers eg km48, 50 and 52 signify?

If you're thinking of Kenwood I would go for a Chef over a Kmix. You're paying for the aesthetics of the Kmix and can get a Chef with a more powerful motor for the same/less money.

Not sure about Hestons stuff, it seems over-priced to me and not as future proof as the Kenwood and doesn't have the same range of attachments available.

  • I have a kmix, I love it. MIL has a Kenwood 330, she loves it. It's all down to your own choice.

The different model numbers are the colours I believe.

  • I use customer ratings on amazon, argos.Tesco ETC.
Make your choice with reviews in mind...google it and find the best deal.Which mag I often wonder...just saying.
I was looking at a Ryobi strimmer (best buy in Which) which got blown out of the water by a black and decker on other sites.

On my second kenwood chef in 35 years and will buy another if that breaks! You can get various attachments and build it into what works for you. Not high fashion but good and reliable. Also bought one for DD age 22. She loves it - age is no barrier to taste!
  • OH and I recently bought our first mixer as we both cook/bake fairly regularly, we ended up going with a Bosch MUM46A1 from Amazon for £108. Can't fault it, really very impressed and glad we didnt pay more for something that just looks a little better!

I have a Kenwood Chef titanium which was on offer on Amazon I love it it's in almost Daily use ( between me & the baking mad children) and I wouldn't have anything else. My mum also has a Kenwood which is over 45 years old & a still going strong.
