Insurance searches

My husband and I have always protected our credit ratings but his is very much better than mine. I looked at my report and I do all the shopping around for all many insurances every year and even though I pay annually and do not use credit to pay there are many dozens of credit searches for many companies that I never use. Does this affect my credit rating?

No. These are soft searches and aren't visible to lenders.

You can stop this by putting bogus, but realistic, information into the comparison sites. Only when you're ready to commit to a product should you enter accurate details, and then just for the company you're going to deal with - perhaps directly rather than linking to their webpage via the comparison site.

And hope that your chosen insurance company doesn't think you've tried to manipulate the data to get a better price.

And how could they possibly come to that conclusion?
