If you want people to test-drive it legally, then you need to insure and tax it.0
-
Yeah definitely legally since they would need to drive it around a police station when taking it out
So tax, what's the minimum you can get? And would it be best to add it on to my new insurance on my other car or get a new policy? I take it my other insurance wouldn't cover it? Just seems a nusience because I don't think I will have it very long but always best to keep it legal 0 -

You can buy it by six or twelve months, but it's cancelled on change of keeper and any complete months refunded. And would it be best to add it on to my new insurance on my other car or get a new policy? I take it my other insurance wouldn't cover it?
Ask your insurer. If they won't, then get prices for a new policy, and take cancellation fees into account.0 -
Ok thanks Adrian :beer:0

You can also set up a direct debit for tax which means you will on have to pay month by month and then the rest is cancelled when you sell.0

Ditto re monthly - set up a DD to pay the full year's tax, monthly - you will get charged from the 1st of the month, but if you sell it within the month, you'd have only paid 1/12th of the annual tax. It's usually a bit more expensive on a month by month basis, but cheaper in the short run (than having to pay 6 months up front and get a refund). I'd wait until the 1st of April to tax it though.0

Or tax it now and sell it before April 1st. Although that does only give you 8 days to sell it for the cost of 1 month's VED rather than 30 days if you wait.0

12 months is cheaper than 6 months in terms of refund. With 6 months there is a 10% surcharge and not included in the refund, it's based on 1/12th.0
