Obscure window - condition of planning approval

I wish our local planning department was so considerate. They approved a house next to door to us that is cunningly angled to not only overlook our entire garden, but the whole rear aspect of our house.
I've had to stop licking my plate after dinner in case I set a bad example to the young lad next door.0 -

There is no planning inspection, so you'll get away with it if the neighbours aren't bothered. Building Control inspect but not on behalf of the planning office. They are only concerned with quality control.
When you come to sell, they will probably just check for the presence of the planning approval. Even if it's raised and somehow becomes an issue, you can use frosted window film. We converted a small bedroom to an ensuite and just covered the clear glass with it. It's good quality - you can't tell it's a film.
It would be in your buyer's interest to have it clear glass. They will either have a problem with the proximity of the neighbours or they'll be fine with it. Obscure glass won't come into it.
Exactly that, you don't have to conform if the neighbours have no objections, the condition is to protect them, if they don't feel threatened then there can be no issues. (up until the point that they move). If that is 5 years later, I think, then it's a done deed and there will be no issue.
I'm open to correction on the last point;)
Just do itI like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)
Always expect the unexpected:eek:and then you won't be dissapointed0 -
Previous posters are correct in that the Planning Condition is there to protect the occupiers of the house, present and future.
However,if a Planning Condition breach is continuous for four years (for a single dwelling house) without being challenged, then you should be immune to any enforcement action.

It's 4 years, but you're absolutely on the right trackEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

I stand justifiably corrected, in my thoughts most planning conditions stand for 3 or 5 years, conformity anyone,I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

It depends who those conditions are set by. If it is the highways that have set a condition then there is no deadline...they can enforce at any point and their powers are quite vast!0

This is for a window that the planners have clearly stated falls within the range that a clear glass window would affect the privacy of neighbours. Nothing to do with highways?Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

As long as it's only your plate you're licking. All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

Its not a commonly known fact but Gloomendooms nickname is " The cat".............So anything is possible...
Oddly enough, on seeing my wife for the first time, an American acquaintance did comment that I must have an eight inch tongue and be able to breathe through my ears.
I haven't a clue what he was on about.0
