Sewer smell from toilet.

I'm looking for a bit of advice. I have a Gala closed coupled toilet which flushes fine but has a terrible sewer smell after flushing. Do you have any ideas what this can be and or any ways to fix it!

Might be stating the obvious here and you may have already done this.
1. Have you noticed if any of your other drains have slowed down?
2. Have you checked your external manhole cover in case of blockages?0 -
Hi sorry I should have said - all other drains seem okay and the man hole appears to be running clear.0

Is it definitely from the toilet?
IS there a shower or sink in the same room ?
We had a stink after flushing the toilet, that was caused by evaporation of the water in the u-bend in a rarely-used shower. We just had to run the water for a bit every few weeks to sort it out.0 -
The U bend is there to stop smells coming back, so i think that's the first thing i'd be checking. Although if it's flushing you'd think that was Ok.
How hard would it be for you to pull the loo away from the wall and check the pipe behind it ?Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

Thanks DRP it's an ensuite bathroom and the shower is in pretty much daily use.
Thanks Sailorsam- The toilet was resealed to the floor on Saturday as it was very loose. I could remove it again but the pipe at the back is only short & looks in the main okay but is there a upstaging specific I should be looking for??0 -
If you had something done to the toilet on Saturday and the smell has only been around since then, then whatever was done has caused a problem.
If it was around before then you can start looking elsewhere.0 -

I'm guessing the stink existed earlier, hence the pan being resealed. I think this is a red herring.
I'll place my bet and say something in the room is syphoning the water traps from your bathroom, could be bidet if you have 1, toilet, bath or sink.
building regs should mean each of these are independant but they are often linked gioving the results you have.
Anti-syphonic traps exist for just such situations.
Main point, do you hear any glug glug glug noises when any sinks/baths/bidets etc are emptied???, if so, crappy traps/linked waste pipes.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

It's on,y a small ensuite - just a shower, toilet & a sink. We get a glug noise from the shower but no where else!!0

I used to get the smell of sewer from my closet toilet just like yours - I poured some thick bleach down the overflow pipe and viola -- all disappeared.

then you have your answer, the shower trap is not big/deep enough for the suction levels when its emptied, or when other pots are used.
that glug noise means you no longer have a water trap that stops the stink, hence the stink.I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
