Baxi Bermuda🙈😡

Options
Hey guys looking for a bit of information

Recently moved into my new place (we all no how hard the first few months are ) and in my living room is a peice of history that has just been serviced and been deemed safe 😭However it doesn't fit in with the decor and removing it is not an issue at all

I'm never gonna use it unless it matches temps of Russia sooooo I was looking to cover it not fully because I no they need proper ventilation so I was thinking of some sort of radiator cover ?

Any hints it tips welcome thank you .

That shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as you check what amount of ventilation you require to run the boiler correctly.
Check Baxi's site to get a copy of the installer guide/operator instructions first.

I know it looks ugly, they always did, but At last, a poster who knows they cannot take the fire off and run the boiler by itself ! Well done, lol.

A few housing shows have down this to great effect, you will just have to find a person to make a modified radiator cover to your design/size.
You could always get them to make it out of flame proof MDF, just to be sure there are no accidents.

And start saving up some money, for when you need to/want to swap to a new type of boiler and a new fireplace, it wont be as much of a saga then as you will have some money already.

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Name Dropper Combo Breaker
For my baxi bermuda it requires 70cm(2) of free air space, so cumulatively the guard around the fire would need to have a single hole 8.3cm x 8.3cm or 88 x 1cm diameter holes etc.
You can find out how much free air you need in the installation manual for the fire place (not the boiler). The boiler and fire place were two different items and the total amount of free air is dependant on the combination of the two together but the fire place manual should tell you the different levels.

Personally in this situation I think you should get the fireplace semi-permanently disconnected before you cover it up, but I'm not sure if that's possible or not.

Let us know how you get on, would love to see what you do in the end.

  • Absolutely not.

The fire and boiler require free and unobstructed air intake from the room. Even if you don't use the fire you must not cover the appliance in any way.

Where does it actually say that in their installer guide?

OP You must ensure that you still have and it is clear of obstruction, the fixed open air vent, through your wall to outside, to ensure adequate air circulation to the room the boiler is fitted into.

In fact years ago, Baxi used to promote something like the following could be used, if anyone rang them up and asked if they could take the fire off and just block the boiler in. They used to promote something like this...

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/Hartleys-Traditional-MDF-Radiator-Cabinet/dp/B00LAD00JW/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1458690534&sr=8-3&keywords=radiators+covers

Which would have a well adequate amount of air flow to the boiler. Getting a bespoke, made to measure type of this, would suffice, you would not be blocking the air intake off the boiler if made this way. You just have to ensure you do not run the fire with it in situ.
