Boring Vent, Confused emails & dodgy stories

I got a quote on confused.com for car insurance and get regular emails, I dont know who makes up their stories and headlines but they must be the office joker or a muppet?

So the headline is that MPs are going to vote on banning diesel cars from city centres. Besides the story being a great way to drive yet more business away from the city centres another email from confused has a slightly different heading.

MPs propose to ban diesels from urban areas, so where will you be able to drive a diesel? pollute the country side? If a motorway passes an urnban area must diesel traffic exit before and find a route around it?

Who creates these headlines?

Funny thing is, the story is partly true. Due to increasing levels of NOx emissions, which are primarily from diesel engines, they are looking at setting up more clean air zones which will prohibit certain vehicles from going there - will mostly be HGV's. Diesel engines are being blamed for increased local air pollution, whereas all vehicles are being blamed for the wider environmental issues.

Banned in urban areas though? I have seen the ban in city centres mentioned but urban areas. Not much of the UK is not urban surely?

It's about as plausible as the old Irish story about EU integration ...

Most of the EU drive on the right. Ireland decided they'd become fully integrated with the EU by switching from driving on the left to the right. From Monday 4th April trucks will switch to the right, with all other vehicles following suit on Monday 11th April.

    :D
