Hi hope I'm not being a wet blanket but have you considered getting a survey done ? I know the joy of parting with 20k for a boat but I was overwhelmed with the idea and used no common sense. I bought a boat that had been previously sunk (I only found out after) and it took me at least another 10k to make it right.
I'm sure you have done your research but are you sure the moorings transferable as many aren't ?
Hope everything goes well for you.
That must have hit hard not knowing your boat had previously sunk :eek::eek: I'd have gone mad!
She's had a survey done recently and all is well, for peace of mind I plan to get her out of the water after he first 6 months just so I can see for myself, she was last blankend not so long ago, also had a boat safety certificate until 2016
I've contacted the moorings manager as I was a bit worried the mooring wouldn't be transferable as it's a very sough after rural area with facicilities but he has said there is not problem with the boat staying where she is if owners changes
Seems to good to be true but all is, hence why I am jumping at the opertunity, it's only a 14 mile stretch of river with probably 50 canal boats on so boats don't come up for sale very often!Documenting my journey from full time support worker to full time eBay reseller0 -
Yes it had been sunk in a lock and lifted out, didn't know till the mould took over and we had to take it back to a bare metal fit out. Still I learned all I could ever want to know about plumbing, electrics, woodworking lol.
It's great about the moorings, they are really hard to get around here. We have a wide beam now so it narrows our choice (no pun intended ) Our moorings are non residential too so we just spend a lot of time here
14 miles of canal ? Are you land locked so to speak ? Does that need a river licence then ?
The BSE expires in 2016 ? That's four years since it was done then ? Could you get that done as part of the deal, would save you a couple of ££ ?
There is nothing nicer than sitting on your boat just chillin and the upside is if you don't like your neighbours you can just move off lolShady pines ma, shady pines0 -
That really must have been awful, but like you said you've gain a ton of new skills
sorry I meant 2018 for a BSC!! I'm going mad!
In theory we are land locked, only way in or out is via an estuary so essentially the sea. I believe this stretch of river is the only privately owned in the UK so you're right, no river licence every year and due to the age of the boat I'd be paying the best part of £1000 a year so I am rather thankful I don't have to pay itDocumenting my journey from full time support worker to full time eBay reseller0 -

Good morning all
I have work up this morning feeling motivated to earn some extra money for my make £10 a day.
My plan is to list two items for sale on Facebook with a totalling value of £50 and to make my daily swagbucks goal by just watching videos on the apps while I am at work, so when I get home this evening I can be doing the surveys, games and searches.
I am still waiting for May 1st which is when my first £400 odd pound comes out for my loan repayment! I am excited to start getting this bad boy down a little!Documenting my journey from full time support worker to full time eBay reseller0 -

Today is a no spend day today, my first of the month! I'm currently putting a few small things on 3 day auctions on eBay to boost my feedback score so i can increase my selling limit!
Managed to get a free dinner from my friends house which saved me a bit of money tooDocumenting my journey from full time support worker to full time eBay reseller0 -
Have seen you mention this a few times over the last year on £10 a day Azzzaa - love that you are going after the dream at a younger age than most people realise they should! Have subscribed and will very much enjoy watching your progress.
Once the children are grown, OH and I are making plans to enjoy a life of boat and camper adventures. I did many years of backpacking in my 20's so am keen to return to the simple/minimal life once the responsibility of babies and furry friends eases
Good luck to you. Enjoy every minute!£10 a day 2017 - APR £60.12 / MAR £82.24 / FEB £142.82 / JAN £241.240 -

Thank you :j it feels so strange to me that it's happening this fast, last April I made a four to five year financial plan that would help me save enough to buy one, next thing I know I've got a £23,000 loan and the potential to buy a boat that is moored right in my doors step !! It's crazy!
I'd highly recommend getting one, it's worth looking on eBay to see what's around your way, I'm from essex where canals are near enough non existent so the prices of any canal boats around are highthat being said you can pick up a 30ft canal boat which would be more than enough to chug around canals etc for less than £10k
it all depends on what you'd want to do on one, live or cruise at weekends
Thank you for subscribing, I'll be updating as and when I canDocumenting my journey from full time support worker to full time eBay reseller0 -

WOOO :j:j:j THE BOAT IS MINE :T
I've been mega busy these past few weeks, yesterday I was cutting up wood I got for free to burn on the log burner, I managed to bag 10 bags full for FREE(pardon the pun)
While I was cutting the wood a neighbour popped their head over, I explained I had a boat and they said they did too and gave me a free leisure battery for boats which new would cost over £150  I was very thankful!!Documenting my journey from full time support worker to full time eBay reseller0
