4 night summer break for 12 ladies!?

Hi all, 12 of my female pals (mid-late twenties) are trying to organise a 4 night break in August. We're stuck with where to go - we are way past the clubbing days of places like Magaluf just for reference!

We are looking to stay within Europe. We would be happy with a city break but most girls have asked for the location to have a beach, and potential places we have looked at such as Lisbon don't have one. Barcelona has been rejected for a number of reasons. Somewhere where we could all stay in a villa by the sea somewhere, but that also has some form of nightlife/nice places to have dinner would be ideal.

Any ideas!?

    Costa Del Sol?

Loads to go at around Fuengirola, Benalmadina etc.
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.

Spain is selling very well this year, bookings to the Costa's are up by over 30% so August is going to be expensive and if you want accommodation you need to book now as overbooking is expected. Lisbon may not have beaches itself but it is 30 minute ride on a regular train to the resorts of Estoril or Cascais both of which have great beaches. Lisbon is not seen by many as a 'holiday' destination, therefore fares and accommodation may be easier to deal with

Valencia has a great beach and a very good transport system for getting around. It has an historic centre with plenty of bars and restaurants and plenty of shops.

The train runs from the airport straight into the city centre and on out to the beach where there are more bars and restaurants.

It's one of our favourite Spanish cities.

Most villas in August will have a 7 night minimum stay, so for 4 nights you may have to arrive on the change over day and then leave after the 4th night. Villas in late August may be cheaper than the earlier part.
When reading the Villa descriptions double check the number of bathrooms, 2 bathrooms may not be enough.

Alicante is an option, but you may have problem finding the right Villa, same with Pisa.

Malta? Might be a bit far for 4 nights but they have decent bars, a few beaches etc.

Im off to Budepest with the lads later this year (not my first choice, but it looks like it could be a good laugh there) we are all about 30-32 so similar ages - no beach though.

    Too many options to list.

Lisbon would be fine, cascais or other suburbs have beaches which are less than 30 minutes on a train.

I think 4 nights in a villa in August is going to be virtually impossible, at the very least you're likely to have to pay for a full week and even that can be difficult sometimes. Given that you'll want one with at least six bedrooms, I really wouldn't bother trying.

In that situation, you might well find a decent hotel better value and that it would give you better access to bathrooms (you're unlikely to get 6 bathrooms in a six bed villa) and be more centrally located for restaurants etc.

Barcelona is the obvious destination but I agree that both Valencia and Lisbon would be excellent alternatives and probably cheaper. You could also put the boat out (literally) and consider staying on or near the Lido at Venice.

As others have said you may struggle this year as Spain / Portugal is very very popular but I'd suggest:
    Nice
    Cannes / Antibes
    Malaga
    Palma
    Livorno area of Italy
    Lido di Jesalo near Venice
Sardinia (not a city but a bit diff)
    Dubrovnik
    Split

I think the best thing to do would be to see which flights are available from your local airport and then look at what accomm is available to match. You may find reasonable flights to Spain but accomm is usually really expensive in August anyway but it's bound to be through the roof this year! AirBnB has some really nice big apartments / villas in the Lisbon area as I have looked at it for my friends hen do next year. Flights with TAP are also reasonable too.
