MYJAR arrangement to pay???

Hi all.

I took a short-term loan out with the above in December 2015, and have had no problem at all making the repayments.

Unfortunately, my February repayment date fell the day before my salary gets paid which resulted in MYJAR not being paid in time. I phoned them the next day and paid that amount and was reassured (verbally AND over email) that my late payment fee would be refunded and my credit file would not show a late payment.

I have just checked and they have put an arrangement to pay on there! Can they do this? I haven't once asked to change my monthly payments or anything?

Many thanks for any help!

    Hi jd0963

It certainly sounds like a very harsh interpretation of the events. While lenders have a duty to report accurate data to credit reference agencies, they should be capable of distinguishing between a borrower in genuine financial difficulty and one who has simply got their payment dates mixed up. In this case, it may be that this data was recorded automatically and that the employee you dealt with simply failed to follow up on their promise.

The fact that you received an email confirming that there would be no ill-effects is very useful. I would make a formal complaint to MYJAR asking that the offending entry be removed from your credit file, and refer to that email if necessary.
