That's fantastic! So I'm not charged anything for buying the VLS80 fund, I'm not charged for adding funds each month via direct debt, I'm not charged a monthly fee, I'm not charged £2/month and my annual charge drops from 0.45% to 0.25%. When you look at it like that it's unbelievable how much more HL charges. I'm off to set up my account now and transfer my ISA over.
Lastly, what does the (charged pro-rata monthly in arrears) mean?

You could leave your existing investments with HL and start a new ISA with CSD from the start of the new tax year next month. On a side note, HL want a total of £50 + VAT to transfer my ISA to another platform.0 -
Funds are like girlfriends; have as many as you like and make sure they are cheap but under no circumstances should they ever meetLeft is never right but I always am.0

Good thinking, I'll do just that thanks. I've just opened my CSD account and will wait until next month to open my new ISA with them and start paying into the VLS80 fund. I've also just converted my holdings with HL to the VLS80 fund.
Just a quick question, as I'm still new to all of this, can I merge my current ISA with my new one next month or do they have to remain their own entity with no more money being paid into them? If so, come the age of 60, will I have 26 ISA accounts? Just thinking if costs are increased with an increase in the number of different ISA accounts.

Yes you can merge them. Speak to Charles Stanley about doing a transfer in (dont sell and withdraw)
Have you looked at l&g multi asset 6 & 7 possible alternative to vls. I have both in my CSD isaLeft is never right but I always am.0 -

HL don't charge for buying funds every month via DD, either.
the only major difference in charges between HL and CSD (when you're buying any funds) is the 0.45% vs 0.25% drop.
i'm not sure where the £2 per month comes from? (HL used to charge that for holding vanguard funds, but that charge was removed, and replaced with their 0.45% a year charge.)
the VLS80 fund has on-going charges of 0.24%, so if you happen to have a holding worth £10,000, the internal charges on the fund would come to about £2 per month. that's not something you'll see deducted anywhere - the fund handles it internally.0
