Why do my listings always appear million miles away?

I have been listing certain items on ebay since about August last year, and have had literally trickles of orders come through. However, when I search for the item I'm selling, there are generally thousands of listings, but always the same companies/listings at the top.

I'm registered as a business seller. Have 99.1% positive feedback (only ever had 1 negative). I have good detailed seller ratings, and try to use important keywords in the title.

What else can I be doing to get my listings to move up a bit? I have tried a few different items, but always seem to be lost somewhere in the mix.

Absolutely technically correct- except this is ebay and they make up Best Match as they go along. I am one of the only TRS sellers with premium service in one of my categories yet still show only half way down the first page behind unregistered business sellers and a business seller with 98% feedback who charges extortionate postage. In another category I am shown below Chinese sellers.

You only get x amount of presentations to the searcher in best match which is divided up between all the sellers so eBay make sure that everyone gets a look in. If those presentations aren't turning into sales for whatever reason you will eventually move down the rankings, more sales you will move up. It's a little more complex than that but I'm stressing the importance of the fact you only get *presented* on the screen in front of someone a certain amount of times and this is why you won't show up in the search results at all on occasions. It's also why when you double your portfolio of stock, your sales figures stay the same.
