Hotpoint dryer re fire risk

I found out about this alarming problem via social media when the news in November last year.
However, when I purchased my Hotpoint tumble dryer from Currys back in 2005, I also took out one of their Whathappens Next policies that itemises the appliance I have got.
That policy is still current.
Where do I stand with respect to a replacement tumble dryer, as I have already seen stated on "MSE", that the appliance was faulty when it was delivered.
No one from Currys, or whoever manages the insurance policy has bothered to get in touch with me to warn me that my tumble dryer is faulty.
They are quick to take my money but I have had nothing in return.
Please can someone advise me on this.
Thank you.

Look at all the other threads about the minimal risk increase that has been identified with SOME of these devices. You will then have the choice of cr**ping yourself and demanding immediate action or you can sensibly assess the risk and advice that was given and carry on as before. You've used it for 11 years so why should it suddenly now decide to burn your house down assuming that you have regularly cleaned the filters out as recommendedThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. They won't contact you. You need to put your model details into this website and register - https://safety.hotpoint.eu/
My 7 year old Hotpoint tumble dryer doesn't worry me much. It's had plenty of time to set on fire before now.0 -

You've had 11years fire free use out of the dryer...
Unplug it,take the back off give it a good brush down with a soft brush, keep the filters fluff free and wait for the technician to come and fit the new back.0 -
You won't get much joy with currys as they've already released an internal statement saying they don't consider this to be a "fault" as such - this was posted to the big thread on this which has now died and all important and useful posts are now beginning to be buried, thanks to MSE's bright idea of creating their own thread on the matter which appears to have fallen flat on its face.
I now suspect we'll have sub threads like OP's cropping up left, right and centre which means further useful information will be scattered about the forum and saturated instead of being in one useful place like it used to be - great job MSE, very helpful.
!!!!!! has posted probably the most sensible advice I've ever seen anybody write on this subject and I couldn't have put it better myself.
