Help fixing my DC04 Dyson

Hi guys I was given a Dyson Dc04 which is not working
(it was free) I'm hoping to fix it so I don't have to pay shed loads for a new Hoover!
I think the problem is with the switch. The problem I have is there are 4 wires, two from the power cable (blue and brown) and two for the internal part for the Hoover (also blue and brown). The problem I have is that the switch only has two electrical spade connectors which means I have two wires with no where to go! Looking at new switches they also only have two switch! There appears to be no other connectors on the switch so I am a bit confused?!
Any help would be much appreciated! I hope it all makes sense.

You need the 4 spade connector type switch ( these are often brown )not the two which is often black . The four is harder to get as no longer made 4 = double pole switch 2 = (new) single pole info on this page. shows pic of old info on new

For the two spade type switch the neutrals are bonded together ( crimped, connector block etc) and live connected to switch Basically the two spade type switches only *live the older four spade switched *live and neutral
You can temp join the corresponding cables together using a choc connector first to verify switch is faulty and use a meter to verify its not cable, loose connections or motor that's faulty?

That's great brightontraveller! Thanks very much! Whenever I searched for a new switch it just came up with the two pronged one! Thanks ever so much!!0

Bypass the switch and you'll soon know. The usual issue is that the cable breaks internally, either near the plug end or near where the cable enters the chassis. In which case you can just shorten it at the relevant end. Use a multimeter to test the continuity. If it's completely dead and the post-motor filter is black with carbon, then the odds are that the motor has blown. All the parts are easily available here, and their forum support is excellent if you need more help.

PS: it's a Dyson, not a Hoover. No free lunch, and no free laptop

Ok so I got the new switch today and they sent me a two pronged switch. So... If I connect the two neutral wires together and the two live wires to the new switch it should work and I won't blow myself up right
