Mound in bedroom - urgency

Hi there

My Grandmother has just been diagnosed with lung cancer they are not sure of yet how serious it is. She also has asthma and some other breathing problems.

In her room there is some really bad black mould it has come through the wallpaper in the right corner, but we poured some wallpaper back today and it is under all the wallpaper so it looks like it the whole wall is black with mould. We have bought her a dehumidifier to get the humidity down and it has come down to around 45%

The mould is no longer wet, so will this still be dangerous for her to be in the room, should this be sorted with urgency or will the dehumidifier be enough for now?

Thank you

I don't think she should be in that room when there is any sign of any mould left. Mould spores are very dangerous

You need to kill the mould with bleach. Use a mask and gloves and saturate the mould with a bleach solution. After a few minutes, wipe it all off, rinse well with clean water and dry the area with paper towelling. Coat the wall with a good strong disinfectant and damp wipe all hard surfaces also. Then vacuum thoroughly.

I wouldn't let your grandmother into the room until this has been done at least twice, with the room ventilated thoroughly every day.

The dehumidifier is going to necessary on an ongoing basis but probably won't cure the problem.
I'm an adult and I can eat whatever I want whenever I want and I wish someone would take this power from me.
