How much money?......

To fit a kitchen worktop? We are replacing our worktop but keeping existing cabinets.

We will need one piece cut to includ the hole for the sink which will be 175cm

One piece at 48cm

One piece at 103cm

One piece at 28cm

And one piece shaped into a breakfast bar at 117cm

Obviously I know it's a bit more technical than just cutting the lengths as there will be other bits to shape and shave.

Just wondered what I should be looking for in terms of cost to do this job and if there's a rough timescale for this work.

We will be buying a wood effect laminate worktop from Wickes.

Many thanks.

You really need to get a proper quotation from a couple of kitchen fitters/joiners.
No one could give you even a ball park figure to be honest.
Get a quote, not an estimat and always on paper.

Fitting replacement worktops takes longer than fitting new tops in a new kitchen. The old ones have to be removed without damaging tiles. Your job sounds at least a days work and more realistically a day and a half for a fitter and a labourer (3metre worktops need 2 men to move them). So expect to pay £400

The hardest parts are always getting the joints right at the corners whem there is a L join.

    Thanks for the replies.

Phill99 - no problem about damaging old tiles as they are all being replaced too.

Wymondham - I will definately be looking into this thanks

Sailorsam - mainly why I just don't think I'm up to the job myself otherwise I would be straight in there with my jigsaw :rotfl:

If tiles are being replaced too that's better for them, or for you if you do give it a go. I'd buy a £20 off cut and have a go yourself to be honest. There is plenty of guides online and it's moderately easy if you've got a steady hand and a bit of patience.

But for someone to quote it would ultimately depend on the joins, corners or if there is any bends.
