How to clean painted walls?

I wondered if anyone had any advice about cleaning painted walls please?
I decorated the lounge only about 3 months ago and stupidly had the sofa to close to the wall and it has left marks against the wall. also have some grubby finger prints from the kids on the walls already too.
I have no idea how to clean this off and am thinking chemical based cleaners are not the way to go, has anyone got any suggestions of what I might be able to use without taking the paint off as I clean please?
EDIT - Just to add I posted on the old style board as I was thinking someone might have some sort of concoction than I can make up rather than buying something specific, but if it would be more suited somewhere else please let me know

Is it washable paint? If not, do you still have any leftover paint to repaint over the marks?Make £2025 in 2025

I remember someone asked this ages ago and everyone started arguing why would you want to wash walls, and then the thread got deleted..it was mental“Life isn't about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

I used washable endurance as I have messy dogs so I wipe down for a while and eventually have to repaint. Liquid sugar soap is a strong cleaner for paintwork but wear gloves.

Read on here somewhere that hairspray is pretty good for taking marks off paint on walls. Just spray and wipe with a cloth. Worked for me on matt painted cream wall, without removing the paint.0

I'd scrub it with anything and repaint that bit if necessary.. I had mine done just before christmas and one of the little treasures has drawn blue pen on it..
hairspray works sometimes.. or WD40 (useful for everything except squeaks!) ..
Matt paint you are better off just scrubbing and repainting. Silk or gloss can withstand bit more of a battering.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I bought a magicsponge and cut it up so I just use a little peice at a time and it works a treat on paint xLiving the simple life0

I use a steam cleaner with great success to remove the marks left by my large dog laying against the walls in the hallway. It doesn't damage the paint either.0
