Has anyone recently changed from a Barclaycard Initial card to their cashback card ?
A family member took out a Barclaycard Initial card just over 6 months ago and have sent them a secure message asking if they can be changed over the Cashback Duo cards. They replied back saying it isn't possible to change from one card to another.
Any ideas ?
Thanks in advance

You can hold two Bcards, so they could apply for another.0

How do you do this?
I'm in the same situation as the OP - Bcard Initial for over 2 years, I've asked twice including over the phone and been told it's not possible to have another card.
Seems a bit daft being stuck on an "initial" card for 2+ years...0 -
ZX81,
you could have two barclaycards but they have stopped allowing this for a few months now and until the policy changes,it has done in the past then ringing up or messaging is the only way. If you can afford to try cancelling the card that might make home allow it but of course could call your bluff.

I opened the Initial 2 years ago, 8 months after I applied for the Freedom which I received. Just after I got the Freedom I changed the Initial to a Platinum.
3 weeks ago I sent them a secure message asking what account upgrades where available on my Platinum and they said I could either upgrade to Amex + Visa cashback or the Progress.
Chose the Cashback and currently waiting the cards to come, very slow at changing accounts over, allow 3 weeks for the process to complete.
Thought it was better to go for the Cashback than stay with the Platinum that offers no rewards, the Freedom rewards are not very good either.
The cashback on the American Express Platinum Everyday credit card, now that's worth looking into if you are after a good rate of cashback on your purchases.0 -
FYI:
I sent Bcard a secure message yesterday asking if I could upgrade my card as I'd been on "initial" for over 2 years.
They sent me a message back today offering a range of cards including their platinum one.
Very happy, although slightly miffed that I now have to ring them to sort out the upgrade, not sure why this can't just be done via the secure message system instead of me having to ring them and spend probably an age on the telephone, but hey ho.0 -
Yes, I've swapped from Initial to Duo cash back cards in the last two months. I phoned them about it and was offered a range of cards, the duo suited me best.0

I swapped after 6 months, try calling them. Maybe if your family member maxed out the card and made minimum payments it won't look good to barclaycard but if it's been paid in full each month they should move them over. The limit and Apr remain the same however.0
