Lets imagine I was to buy as many of Lloyds banking group shares at 0.67p each. I would be able to buy 80,597 shares. Then on the same day I was to sell them for 0.71p each. I would have made a profit of £3223 (obviously minus trading costs etc).
Brilliant idea. It's a three step process really

    (1) Find a way of accurately predicting on which days the Lloyds share price will jump by 6%
    (2) Buy Lloyds shares at the start of that day
    (3) Sell Lloyds shares at the end of that day.

Some pessimists will doubtless say that step (1) might turn out to be a bit tricky, and to be fair they're probably right, but I'd counter that by pointing out that once you've done that, steps (2) and (3) will be an absolute piece of cake.

An upwards daily moment of 2 pence or more has only occurred on 9 occasions in the last 12mths, dreaming of daily trading for profit? Not going to happen :rotfl:

Buy for the long term could be a good earner for growth and dividends, then again we could have a housing crises and everything goes belly up with mortgages - who knows :D

    Put £50,000 into premium bonds.

Put £2000 into a low cost FTSE 100 ETF.

    Split £2000 between
    (a) Peer to Peer lending such as ZOPA.
    (b) Buying weekly tickets for the EURO & National Lottery.

This should hopefully fill your need for
    (1) gambling
    (2) share dealing
    (3) Making money fast
    (4) Keeping most of your money safe, until you come to your senses.

What you suggest is possible but the downside is it could go in the other direction and you could lose a lot of money. With the above you will at least keep £50000 safe. You just might make a lot of money if you are lucky!

Slightly off-topic but I have had some success trading in crypto-currencies, the opportunities to make (and lose) large amounts of money very quickly are there every day. Like everything though do your research and do not invest in anything you do not fully understand. Just today there are crypto-currencies that have gone up over 900% in last 24 hours, there are amazing opportunities in day trading them. Only invest what you can afford to lose though.
I am insane and have 4 mortgages - total mortgage debt £200k. Target to zero = 10 years! (2030)
