hello all....
this may be a daft question but over some years now i have been using amazon.co.uk to buy items etc. All the times i view an item i cannot know if the item is being sold in the UK or china or HK, unless i check the sellers details and all that, which is time consuming.
is there a way to refine/filter the search of products sold only by UK sellers ? i am sure some Chinese sellers do register as UK sellers.....thank you all.....Aly

There has been mumblings that Amazon were doing something about it but that's been going on a while and hasn't materialised.
You may be able to search items that have a faster delivery time, so someone else may know where you can do that. That still wouldn't weed out any foreign sellers that were listing on a faster shipping item..0 -

I agree with RFW - I don't believe you can. I've basically given up with Amazon marketplace due to the high percentage of issues I have had with buying items supposedly from a UK seller with a quick delivery estimate that then turns into a Far East seller with a 40 day estimate. I don't even believe the seller location anymore , one of my last purchases was for an item that showed as coming from the UK, yet when I checked it a week later the delivery estimate had passed but the tracking showed it was en route via China. I couldn't even open an A-Z claim as Amazon said the UK delivery date was an estimate and I had to wait for the tracking estimated date to pass- which was a month or more later.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Makes me feel better too, I thought I was just rubbish at using the site as I couldn't see a way around it either.
The annoying part for me is it makes it hard to recommend an item to a friend by sending them the item link, as by the time they look the good UK buyer you used may be sold out and it switches to another one that may be in China.
You have to send an explanation of how to click on the (tiny!) 'x new from £xx' words to bring up the list and make sure you pick the XYZ supplier and not the cheapest one! - hassle!European for 3 weeks in August, the rest of the year only British and proud.0 -
Amazon are most interested in getting people to sign up to Prime and to have sellers with inventory at Amazon. So then you can refine search to Prime only and that gives UK based products sent by Amazon.
I sell using both, my own stock and that stored at Amazon. I list both at same price, I can usually get stock to customers quicker than Amazon do. I'm an exception rather than the norm unfortunately but there are others like me, finding is difficult as Feedback isn't particularly helpful either, I barely get any and if I do it's usually a product review and not on timely delivery.
The Chinese sellers often barely register any kind of return on a sale, some can't even earn if they don't pay for postage their end..0 -

Some of them UK based products are still from Chinese sellers though and if they run out of stock here it'll be sent from China/Hong Kong.
If you just want it sent from the UK then searching Prime only helps. If you're trying to avoid Chinese sellers/products completely you still have to be really careful. Plus by searching Prime only you're filtering out UK items that aren't under Prime.0 -
....thank you all for your advise......that was greatly helpful and glad to know i am not alone...cheers0

Why do you feel the need to use dodgy marketplace sellers. What about just Amazon with their own shorter turnaround?0

There are many legit marketplace sellers. I'd say most are legit, even the Chinese ones (the issue with them is with things other than the seller having the item and posting it out).
Amazon do not sell every single item on their site themselves. Nor are they always the cheapest. Marketplace sellers can send items out quick too.0 -

Oh I see. I have always avoided them for fear of being caught by ex-ebay sellers who've been banned for poor performance or quality issues.0 -

Amazon has rules, restrictions, a returns/refund process in place, they follow the law and even private sellers are treated as though they're a business (e.g. they have to accept returns and refund) so no dodgy seller should last long.
Amazon have feedback for sellers so you can check that before buying.
I'd say you're more likely to come across a dodgy seller on ebay than Amazon. Also being banned for poor performance on ebay doesn't always mean the seller is not to be trusted. A seller selling low volumes of stock doesn't need many defects before they lose their sellers account and it's possible they didn't actually do anything wrong. Some items are targeted by scammers more than others. For example, mobile phones. There are also other reasons why a seller may move from ebay to Amazon.0
