O/S Daily Monday 21 March 2016
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.
Morning everyone
Birthday wishes to those celebrating a birthday, hope you have a great day x
Hugs and get well wishes to those that want/need them x
Now light, dull, dreich and overcast, but no frost.
DH up and gone to work stupid stupid early. DS1 using up some more of his hols, so still in his pit. DS2 still in his pit, will wake him shortly so he can get ready for school.
Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, carrots, cauli/broc cheese, asparagus, Yorkshires and gravy, threw a rhubarb crumble together whilst the meat was cooking, but no-one had room, so that’s safely in the fridge. The pork crackled the best I’ve ever made and the meat was superb, it was a big piece cut for me at the meat counter in MrM’s, I can’t fault their meat, there’s some LO’s so they’ll be used for a meal later in the week.
Dinner tonight is pasta with mushroom sauce/creamy tomato sauce, and chicken pieces.
DH and the boys had a couple of jobs to do yesterday morning so they went off to do those whilst I was prepping and cooking lunch and pack ups, so although we haven’t done loads this weekend, there were several jobs needing to be done and all have been, the menfolk also took niece’s and nephews easter eggs to my parents so they can take them when they go down to visit on Thursday.
Back to work today for me, expecting a nightmare to be honest, it’s a Monday and the c/tax bills have hit the mats – always makes us busy, at least the day will fly by, but hoping it won’t be too stressful.
Keep safe and well x

Morning all
Seems to be dry here so far but chilly, at least it's a short week.
I have 4 sets of DGS's uniform on 4 separate hangers, each hanger has a small carrier bag hung round it each bag contains a pair of boxers and a pair of socks, lets hope it helps towards a peaceful start to every morning!
The fish have been fed and hubby has a cuppa in bed, he's on late's this week so doesn't start until 2 and finishes around 10ish.
Hopefully I'll get my blanket finished this week, I'm pleased with the colours but the black border is difficult to work with in the evenings though I do sit with a pale blue quilt on my knee to make a bit of contrast.
Have a good day everyone.
Hugs HesterChin up, Titus out.0 -
Morning everyone.
Had a restless night, mainly because texts and phone calls from Melbourne coming in. They are 11 hours ahead so communication is a bit difficult. We're now just waiting for coroner action.
I've sorted my e-visa and will go to the post office to order currency today. A neighbour called round last night with some daffs picked from his garden so we had a wee dram together.
Not much else yet.
Happy Monday everyone.0 -
Morning all.
Secret agent Judi here...well I was in my nightmare. I was a patient in a hospital with ''Blackun' (my dog) and found out they were building a secret underground mine and it the patients were being bumped off to fuel the machinery.
There was plenty of drama. Belle Dingle was in it (out of Emmerdale) and Rick Griffin (out of Holby). I was locked in a mini and pushed over a cliff but 'Blackun' saved me.
I didn't hear the men go to to work this morning. I was too busy trying to save my own skin.
Onwards and forwards

Morning All
What a beautiful weekend we had, all the washing yesterday was put away as soon as it came in off the line (don't do much ironing). The sun shone all day.
Managed my run yesterday, really enjoyed it. Also planted a few seeds that are in the conservatory and tidied the rest of the garden, hoovered out the car and had a general tidy round. I was pooped by about 5pm so had a laze about on the sofa.
Just 4 days this week, need to be organised as I think I have something on every evening and going to visit relatives down south on Friday.
Hugs to you Gers, good to see you back with us Elona.
Have a good week, take care.0 -
Morning all.
Just having a quick read before I get ready for work. DH and DS still happily asleep, I have washing to put on the line.
Am staffing a vacant building today because we have a builder coming in to do a job, it w ill be lovely when finished. There are computer connections so I can work.
Then working into the evening, several days this week, will be a tiring one but at least no work for me next week. We'll, no office at least, may need to do some work at home.
Thinking of you GersI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all. ((HUGS)) GERS, I really feel for you being so far away. Hope all your plans go smoothly and no problems getting a flight when the time comes.
Despite a poor forecast yesterday, we had a beautiful day. The sun came out and it felt so warm. The bedding got pegged out after all and was snuff dry by lunchtime! All the young people were out and about just in t shirts and some even in shorts! It fair lifted the spirits.
Today we are off over to the caravan site again, to carry on where we left off Saturday! The car is loaded with all the stuff we brought home to store over winter. Just a few bags and a bike left for DD to take over tomorrow. I hate opening up time it involves so many trips back and forth before it's ready for anybody to actually stay in it!!
Just our packed lunches to make (we haven't connected our electric yet) and this time I really shall try and stick to my own healthy offerings! I stuck to the BS plan reasonably well yesterday and I have to agree with GERS and CANDLELIGHT, the poached egg on avocado is really nice! I shall have it again this morning to use up the remaining half!
Nice to have you back with us full time now ELONA, you must be relieved to be back on line again. I feel like I have had a limb cut off when I can't access the internet!
Have a good day all (((HUGS))) to all wanting/needing them and take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning all,
Cold but dry here again been marvellous weather over the weekend, lots of washing dried and put away.
Off to work today at the quieter site which will be nice for a change, have not been there for a while.
Little Evie enjoyed a roast beef dinner yesterday with great gusto, she is frightened of eating in front of people and will stop and skulk away if you go near her ( I think she may have been told off or smacked whilst eating) but she loved the beef and ate every scrap and finished off my mums dogs too !
We have another roast today, all cooked just needs heating up when we get in, dd will get in first so can put it in oven.
Right better get on have good days all xx
Hugs to Gers xx0 -
Morning :hello:

I've just read back, I'm so sorry to read your news Gers xx
There's not much to do here at the moment, apart from the usual housework. The seedlings won't need repotting for a while so the greenhouses are ready but I have nothing to put in them. The veg patch is ready too but I have nothing ready to plant yet, apart from sprouts. The girls are laying but cleaning and boxing their eggs only takes a few minutes each day. Lately, I feel like I'm just playing a waiting gameI'm not having to spend as much time keeping a sharp eye on Scampi either, he's been much more relaxed for the last few days. He still quietly grumbles a bit when someone walks past the house, but it's from the comfort of the sofa, lol. Much better than shooting across the room and having a frenzied barking session while jumping madly at the window. Although we still have to keep our distance a bit, he glances at, then ignores, things he doesn't like when we're out and about. He's even made friends with the man who he's barked at almost daily for the past year – one calm dog and two impressed humans, lol. Still loses his temper at cats though

I lost a few things when I broke my laptop a few weeks ago, including a password for a FB account. I've made a new page, Scampi is up and running again
I'm going to up my exercise a bit, my leg is still limpy and I don't seem to be improving. It hurts when I exercise it now, I'm expecting worse for a while til it loosens up again. I'm dreading it and looking forward to it at the same time. My hair is a nightmare at the moment, I'm having to wash it everyday. I haven't had to do that since I worked in cafesIt's lovely when I've washed it, the next morning it's a greasy mess. Hormones I expect.
Not much planned for today. I'm hoping for a slightly longer walk this morning, when we get back I'll water my seedlings then flick the duster around. I've felt really cold lately so the windows haven't been opened much, I'll open them today to give the place a good airing then burn one of my yummy Yankee Melts.

Good morning everyone
Gers, you are in my thoughts x
It's looking to be a bright and sunny day today. It certainly has lifted my mood as well. I am very tired as I had a rubbish night's sleep but I am up and dressed as my friend is coming over to visit at 11am. I will probably go back to bed once she has gone to be honest, I'll see how I feel by then.
DD16 has asked to stay home but I am being tough on her. They only have 3 days left in school before they break up for Easter so the answer is no. She will be on study leave as well after then so I get that it's boring and she doesn't want to be there any more but she is coming to the end now so she will have to put up with it. I do worry about her as she is not as robust as her sisters but she can see her counsellor if she needs to.
Tea tonight will be chicken curry and poppadums. I will just have the curry bit without the rice and poppadums. No pain no gain I suppose. I am feeling a bit fed up with dieting but I do want to be able to fit into the dress I have bought for the wedding in August. I do feel better tummy wise ditching the carbs and my blood sugar is sometimes in single figures now.
Right, I'm off to chivvy some girls to school. Hope you all have a great day whatever you are up to, take care xx0 -
Morning All,
Had a fantastic weekend. DS and DDIL are here from Cumbria. We had a wedding reception for them on Friday. Went off really well.
Then yesterday DS and DD ran the Hastings half marathon. DS did it in 2 and a half hours, DD did it in 3 and a half. We went with her for the last mile, son, dad and friends running, me on my mobility scooter:rotfl. They both did it and raised £600 for the Great North East Air Ambulance who saved their father last year when he had that awful accident. I am so proud of them both.
Every body came back to ours and I did jacket potatoes with a huge pot of chilli. Went down really well.
DS's godmother is coming to see them today, and they are going home tomorrow.
Been fabulous having them here:T
Well, enjoy the day all!I Believe in saving money!!!:T
A Bargain is only a bargain if you need it!0
