I want to buy my dad Microsoft Office for his birthday. He is Danish and would like it in Danish language. Will I need to buy it in Denmark or can I choose between languages on the UK version?

Comments

  • There is an option when installing MicrosoftOffice what language would you like to use.

I once accidentally changed the default language on my Office 2007 install to German which was very confusing! I'm sure it'll be possible to make the current version of Office Danish.

I just bought it and you can indeed choose Languages. You link the product key to a Microsoft account. In there, you can choose install Language.

I am looking in my account now. Can't see Danish anywhere down the list but is it Dansk?

    edit:
You can install Microsoft Office Home & Business 2016 in a different language.
If your language isn’t available below, install one of the languages in the list and then install a language accessory pack.

Danish is under the language accessory pack. Guess you'd install English first then install the accessory pack.

Dansk is indeed Danish, so if that's in the list you can install it without needing the accessory pack.

I use LibreOffice because it is "free". It is available for download in Denmark or if your father is UK based the UK download can be customised for the danish language.

LibreOffice can read and save files in various formats which include MS Office. If a free program can do this I am feel that a UK version of MS Office will do this also.

If it has to be Office then so be it, but for me LibreOffice does all I want it to,
Well that didn't answer anything to do with the original question

And, as keeps being said, although both Libre Office and Open Office can save as a .doc / .docx file, they are not fully compatible and suffer from formatting errors and other problems. I would only ever use x Office to save as Word if the document could be written using Wordpad.
