Help! Printer Software

Pulling my hair out with frustration here!!

Just connected my old colour printer up to my pc - I put the disc in the D drive to load the software and then it told me "software not supported"

Basically when I regularly used the printer I must have been on XP or Vista. I'm now running Windows 8.

Surely my printer isn't totally redundant now?

I just want to get my son's project homework printed off in colour so he can hand it in tomorrow.

Is there anything I can do to get the printer working?

Go to devices and Printers add a printer, windows will find a driver.....

If Windows finds a driver for the printer it may be a 'generic' one which doesn't use all the features of the printer. But it should give you a colour print!
