Ex railway parking

I parked in an area close to my local station - the railway bye laws sign had been painted over but there was a sign saying max stay 10 minutes stay only - this is the only sign in the whole area -and the area is very separate from the main car park. on return I had been issued a ticket from the parking contractor who manages the main station car park. Would appreciate any thoughts as to whether this should be contested and the chances of success.
Thanks

Same as all the rest really. As covered in 'NEWBIES PLEASE READ THESE FAQS FIRST' thread there are ways to beat these and no-one will tell you to pay it (nor to ignore it).
If it's a BPA member like NCP or MET or Meteor or CP Plus or APCOA, then you can win at POPLA (later on) by appealing at first as the registered keeper around the third week, as explained in the FAQS thread.
Which PPC? Acronyms all explained in the FAQs thread.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

I have been parking there for months without issue - I have reviewed the newbies page but it'is far from clear0

can the railways stop using railway bylaws? I think a lot of work would be needed to do this

Far from clear to send a template appeal (blue writing) on day 26? Are you trying to read it on a phone or something?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The byelaws apply to "railway assets":
“railway assets” means any
(a) train;
(b) network;
(c) station;
(d) light maintenance depot;
and any associated track, buildings and equipment;
So if the land is a railway asset then the byelaws apply, regardless of whether they choose to enforce them. Merely painting over a sign doesn't make the byelaws non-applicable,the only way they could do that would be to sell or lease the land to someone else!0
