Assault within the military

I was serving within the military when somebody over my rank grabbed me by the throat and pinned me against a wall. Too which I thought my eyes were going to pop. Too which others stepped in and removed him. The situation was I felt unable to report it for numerous reasons. Been having some flashbacks and this event has been featuring in it.
This happened outside the UK on a field visit during training. Can anybody tell me how long I have to report this incident? Who do I report to? The Military Police , Ministry of Defence Police or the Police that covers the training camp?

I doubt there is a time bar on reporting. Just as we have seen historical cases of abuse in the news, you should be able to report the incident however many years ago it was.
As to where and whom, I would contact an ex services charity and ask for help with reporting it.
I assume you can remember key dates/times and the names of people present?0 -

What do you want the outcome to be?
The military look after their own. Chances are any witnesses will have conveniently forgotten the incident. If it is looked into further, keep in mind they'll also look into your mental health issues.
I'm not saying not to report it, but be realistic in what you expect to achieve.0 -
How long ago did this happen?
When you say 'serving in the military' what do you mean?
Army? Territorial army? Was this full time?0
