Hi all,
I'm after some advice as I'm starting a new position working on the road. I have put together the below if you wouldn't mind sharing your views in case I have missed anything.
I'm of the view the car allowance for my Jag is the far better option
Car Allowance
Jaguar XF Luxury Sport 3.0 V6
30k mileage
Purchases Nov 15, 5 year repayment, 3 year platinum cover for faults or issues. 3 year GAP insurance to recover full market value paid in event of a write off.
£370 per month repayment
Allowance 6k added to salary, approx. £4020 after tax
First 10k miles @ 0.45 = £4500
MPG 35
1, 300 litres X 0.997 / litre = £1,296.1
Variance £ 3203.9
Servicing £400
Tyres £800
Tax £240
Insurance £725
Total £2,165
First 10k mileage variance: £3203.9 - vehicle associated costs £2165 = £1,038.9
Company Car
Volkswagen CC or Golf
133 grams per km
fuel card and fully expensed
Vehicle benefit tax due £1,300
Fuel card tax due £1,154
Total to pay £2,454
At this point I will also not use much personal mileage and so the access to fuel serves no real benefit. Plus the car is not one I find favourable to drive.
I also don't expect to be able to sell the Jag and recover the full value to pay (about 19k). Therefore I appear to be much better placed to take the personal allowance and retain the Jag. What are your thoughts ?
Thank you in advance

3 year platinum cover?
You have three years Jaguar Assist which covers all breakdowns and gives you access to Jaguar Technicians aswell, not forgetting a free hire car arranged within hours.
You can extend that aswell if you do so before the car hits 100k or 3 years.
Consider a Service Plan but don't forget that you can save a lot of money by shopping around between Jag Dealers, I saved £300+ by using a Jag dealer in Chelmsford instead of the nearest one in Brentwood when I had the Cambelt service done (112k)
I would also invest in a DPF Dongle that allows you to put the car into Regen as the Jag system will not Regen round town or on tickover.
It will also do a Regen with the Red DPF light on and the vehicle is in LimpMode.

Hi big, thanks for response
To clarify I have a RAC extended warranty platinum cover (up to 70k) for all mechanical and electrical, was purchased with the car through unbeatable car which was the dealer. From there it drops to gold up to 100k on listed components.
Thanks for info re service plan, that's a good idea which I was offered but declined at time of purchase due to low level of use; more important now I guess however.
Do you think the DPF dongle will be necessary as it's a national position so will need to drive as and where required, mostly motorway unless stuck in London etc.
Thank you0
