My Epson DX8400 printer has just died on which had cheap running costs via compatible ink cartridges (16 for under a tenner).
Looking for a replacement but dont need anything too fancy but with cheap running costs possibly through compatible catridges.
Any suggestions would be appreciated?

pretty much all the Epson ones that you can get compatible carts for will be best"If I know I'm going crazy, I must not be insane"0

I'd do a search on eBay for replacement printer cartridges. Sort by price, and pick a printer that has a plentiful supply of cheap cartridges from different suppliers.
Of course, this ignores the capacity of the cartridge, but it's a good place to start.0 -
Does it have to be an inkjet?0

I have used 4x Samsung ones and they work pretty well over the years and am currently using a M2825ND which has double-sided printing and USB/Ethernet (and I think wireless) connections and costs about £100 with a 3yr pick-up and return warrantee, but many of the cheaper Samsungs are around £30-£40 - and I read that Brother ones are quite good as well.0 -
Ryman are currently selling the Brother HL1212W Compact Mono Laser Printer With Wifi, for £50.

Alternatively, from Amazon, you could get a Brother HL-1110 A4 Mono Laser Printer, for £42-99, free delivery.

You can get a pair of compatibles (to fit both printers) from Amazon, for £16-15, including delivery.

I've currently got one of those compatibles installed in my printer, and it works fine.0 -
Depends if you really need colour. I run the cheapest of HP Laserjets. Recycled cartridges are dirt cheap on ebay, I think I pay about £12-14 for two off ebay from a UK seller.Yes it's overwhelming, but what else can we do?
