Driving ban, insurance and named driver help please

Hi
I'm awaiting to go to court where I'm pretty sure I will get a 12 month drivin ban for drink driving possibly DR20 all for being 1pt over the limit (absolutely gutted genuinely thought I was under the limit) now what I want to know my car is insured in my name I'm the policy holder and main driver but my partner uses the car too and is down as named driver. Now my understanding is I can't be insured whilst on a ban ?
So my question is can I remove myself as a driver of my insurance and put my partner on as main driver is this possible? (I'm with swift cover and tried to do this on my online account change the main driver to him and deleted myself as a driver and it seemed like it was going to go through as it told me the extra premium etc)
We can't afford to cancel the policy and have to pay a deposit for new policy
Any help or advice greatly appreciated
Also any advice on what would happen at court for first drink driving offence etc or any tips
(And before I get slated for drink driving I wasn't ultimately drunk hence saying I was 1pt over I wouldn't of drove if I thought I was going to be over)
Many thanks :A:A

When you say partner, are you married?0

No we're not married0

There are many Insurers who will allow you to transfer ncd to your partner to permanently, this is more likely if you're married.
It tends to be when you take out cover and as you're not married some may ask the ownership / registration of the vehicle is transferred to them.
Your first port of call should be to see what Swiftcover can do for you though, especially as you don't want to pay cancellation / deposits.
P.S Your first post makes it look like your partner was 1 pint over, if he was one point over, you may want to edit the abbreviation of 1 pt to 1 point0 -

As far as I'm aware, that is correct....So my question is can I remove myself as a driver of my insurance and put my partner on as main driver is this possible? You may have no choice. The insurer may cancel the policy anyway. You are going to have to tell them that you have been banned.......
Any help or advice greatly appreciated

12 month ban and a fine. Plead mitigation.0 -
You need to speak with your insurer.
I think the most likely outcome is that they will cancel the policy and your partner will have to take a new one in his own name.0
