If you don't mind a lot of sawing (or, if like me, you have invested in a circular cross-cut saw) you could lay it at 45 degrees to the wall.
Looks great. Causes more waste, but definitely stands out from the crowd.Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

We have gone with diagonal, it looks very good. If doing it ensure the bit going into the hallway wall comes out in the living room.0

That's the way I'd like to do it, but I'm afraid it's going to make the living room look smaller. It would also mean the boards run perpendicular to the subfloor ensuring a more stable finish0
