Santander website down from 4am this morning

Front end is now up but the login is dead since 3am!

Denial of service attack!

Been monitoring this since 4am and Santander helpline is clogged no answer been on the line for 30 mins and no one picking up

Disgraceful service - not even any warnings - obviously trying to mitigate the attack and failing miserably.

Time these banks were made to pay compensation for these outages - i have payments and important financial stuff to do today and im stuffed.

Whats worse is they have upped our charges for santander 123 to £5.

Its our money they use to make more money and they charge us for the privilige and we all put up with it - I dunno whats worse - the pacification of the population or the imbalance of wealth and destruction of our planet!

On a technical note all this moving businesses and infrasctructure toi the cloud - what a joke that is and the public and businesses have swallowed it - I am an IT security guy and used to be a bd boy and I can tell you there isnt one single website onthe internet that isnt vulnerable to attack so if you are thinking of putting you financial details or company servers up in the cloud please think again! Talktalk attack still hasnt woken people up! Think about it - if the FBI and NASA have been hacked then what does that tell you?

Ranting time today
lol

You'll have noticed then that the site has been working again a couple of hours before your post, and that intermittent access was possible throughout the day.

It's your own fault if you are up the creek and don't have a second account at a different bank for emergencies.

I've been with Santander and Abbey combined for 10 years. This is the first time their online service has been down. You can still use your cards, atms and if you need to make a payment you could do it over the phone or in branch. Their security is better than some other banks with the two factor authentication.

I'ts bad that this happened but there is much worse that could have went wrong and overall i'd say santander have been very good.

Also how do you know it was a denial of service attack?

Change your bank account. If you think the world is coming to any time soon.

At least i now know that it wasn't just my computer throwing a wobbly yesterday.
How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)

How the hell did the world cope when banks opened 10 until 3 weekdays only, the Internet hadn't been invented and the ATM network was something Barclays had at one branch in London?

    Santander working fine right now.

Santander are having problems again but you know get over it. My world won't end because of it and frankly most providers have a problem now and then although LBG do seem more reliable than most at the moment. So I'm obviously going to switch now because you know I'd rather really not have that 3% interest and guess what, I do actually have a phone and really don't live so close to the edge that I need to log in every 10 mins lol.

I had to contact them by phone this morning about something and there was a message regarding issues and some info regarding when things should be back to normal.

I have no idea what the reason was as it didn't have anything to do with my call and I was not aware of the problem as per OP until now.
