Halifax Reward Account- Questions about Direct Debits

Hi Everyone,

I am thinking of changing my old current account with HSBC (its left over from when I was at uni) to Halifax to collect the £125 switching incentive and then the £5 a month reward.

However, I do have 2 DD's set up; 1 comes out monthly bit the other one comes out just once every 6 months.

it says to get the £5 a month, pay out at least 2 different direct debits.

Would my 2 DD qualify?

Just wondering if the DD need to go out every month or just 2 need to be active?

Thanks

Here’s £5 a month to say thanks. We will give you £5 each calendar month, when, in the previous calendar month, you: • Pay in £750 or more and • Have a minimum of two different direct debit instructions paid from your account and • Have not had a debit balance (planned or unplanned) on your Reward Current Account by the end of any day during the calendar month.

Confirming Tesco Internet Saver (current 1.01% (variable) also allows DD payments inwards to be set up. (The higher 1.11% Fixed rate cash ISA I'm not sure of as I don't nor want one)

If anyone does not want a Tesco current A/C but does want the DD facility for other accounts terms then a Tesco Internet Saver as a standalone product will allow such.

To qualify for the £125 you dont need any DD, only that you use Current Account Switch Service to switch and close your account. The current offer expires on Tuesday, so you will have to be quick.

You can work out the DD side of things for the £5 reward at a later date, till you have 2 DD you wont get the £5 but the months you do qualify (twice a year) you will, as others have said Tesco will help with the DD to replace your non monthly one or maybe consider paypal?

DD's need to come out every month an d you can pay 750 and out again to qualify. :)
  • thanks for the replies everyone.

I will get the account switched and sort out a DD later. I pay netflix on a credit card that I only keep for free credit report so could possible set up a DD to pay that off in full every month.

i wouldnt bother with the free credit report, but yes, that DD to clear your credit card would qualify.
i use a mixture of credit card payments, payments to a credit union and small investments with friendly societies as qualifying DDs.
get the switch incentive. and get your £5/m.:)
