No, the Will makes no reference at all to specific items (i.e. the Fishing tackle or anything else) and the Will does not 'bequeath personal possessions to the wife' either.

That list on the IHT(205/400) forms is for IHT purposes and as it was a gift with reservation it needs to be in there somewhere.

On the REAL asset list used for distribution the inventory and account they should be either left off or identified as not available for distribution as they were previously gifted.

People make mistakes if the inventorey and account is wrong you can fix it.
That asset does not exist for distribution.

if you had added a zero to the ammount in an account saying £10000 when it should have been £1000 you would be correcting that so do the same with the rods/reels.

You say this is the last straw what other things are getting disputed?
