PPI Party Pooper
Hi there, hoping someone can answer a query I have.

I am a full time carer for my husband, he gets DLA and ESA, and I get Carers Allowance and Income Support.

I applied for PIP in October, and I have finally heard from them, and my assessment is on Wednesday.

My question is, if I get granted PIP,
1) ill get a back payment back to October which could be a hefty sum
2) my monthly income will increase

How will this affect my DRO? I know i will have to inform them of my increased income and declare the lump sum, but can they take the DRO off me?? would it just be easier to cancel the PIP application and wait till the DRO is complete?
You're so very special, I wish I was special

In cases I have seen, the increase in income from PIP can be disregarded it is paid for specific care costs.
Bizarrely though, the backpayment will be classed as an asset. You can have up to £1000 however. There is a figure higher than this though that will be considered before revocation however (as they work out that if you then went bankrupt anyway you might as well keep the DRO) but it's all judged on a case by case basis.
I think the figure is £1750 they will consider...
