Spam from energy companies

OK I understand what the government are trying to do - in advising us to move around energy companies - but to expect SPAM if we don't move ??
Just how will these rival companies obtain our email addrresses ?
From our present energy companies ?
I don't think so !

I ve already had my mobile spammed with an energy company trying to get me to switch. They quickly get bored with me but TBH many people on expensive standard/variable tariffs would greatly benefit by a salesman telling them the truth.I work for British Gas and most of my meter reading work is now with OAPs without access to the internet who stay stubbornly on paying by cheque every quarter on tariffs at least 25% higher than needed. 60% or so are still on these horrendous rates, they need to get off them.

The solution is to ban standard tariffs.The energy supply is exactly the same as an online tariff. Other than a complete rip off how can these differentials be justified or persist.

A number of new entrants to the market do not have standard tariffs.

The Government want an end game where we all get lower prices so this would fast track us to that point and then true competition can commence.At the moment the big 6 are in a sheltered position.
