I know of no current account application that offers, or requests, an opening deposit.
I don't think Halifax will actually issue the debit card for an account until £100 is deposited.

I got mine without depositing a penny on the reward account.

Have you got the exact words from the T&Cs for that, please?

It did used to be the case that a card was only sent when £100 was credited into the account overnight, or £10 for cardcash/Expresscash customers but this isn't the case any longer, stopped about years ago,

you get a card delivered within 7 - 10 days of the application, but you can still credit the account over the counter/via FP/SO with just the sort code and account number till the card arrives.

Interesting because Ī had a Halifax Current, Cardcash and Passbook over 16-18 yr old period and held them till I left (missed out on conversion shares due to wrong staff advice) I assume this came in when BOS merged in 2001 ?

It was after 2001 as I didn't start in the company till 2006, and It was the case for a while after I started, I suppose it could have been six years ago it stopped but it doesn't happen now.

Really bad idea anyway, imagine low wages waiting on payday credit in then have to go to a branch to withdraw because your card is on the way...poor decision and implementation by the upper elite in BOS, thanks for the info Westie :)
