    If the battery is difficult to disconnect and you know which fuse(s) to remove, then doing this may be far easier.
    It also has the benefit of not having to worry about radio codes or the possibility of an alarm or immobiliser problem due to removing all power.

    Disconnecting the battery could be the worst bit.. Seen more than a few that have sparked it when disconnecting and had electrical and immobiliser issues afterwards.

    So how does one change a battery safely then? Do you connect up one in parallel while you swap over the main battery?

    I have not seen this happen just on a battery disconnect and have done it enough times however I have read some high end cars can be a bit sensitive.
