Hello - This is my big moneysaving "thing"
There is a monthly event run by my favourite charity about three miles from where we live. They sell clothes all 50p a garment. Last week I had two good jackets and two summer frocks all in nearly new condition.
They also sell books and household items. It has been a Godsend to us. I love being a "second hand Rose" jac.xx
I am off to Leek in Staffs in April for a weeks holiday with my friend and shall be on the lookout for any 'jumbles' around there,we are both avid bargain hunters .She uses up any material in her charity quilts and I use wool for my charity blankets.Plus we both enjoy reading and finding odds and ends .A couple of years ago we visited Buxton and there were so many CS I think we visited every one:) and came home with a decent haul

My part of the world :-) PM if I can help with anything.
Lots of charity shops in Leek, but the best ones are in Alderley Edge, about 40-50 mins away

It normally features high in the list for most millionaires in one area (it's the premier league footballers) so the charity shops are very good as a result0 -
One of the last jumble sales I helped with was at the village school where I taught. Someone sold the headmaster's coat that was hung over the back of the chair, and a child who took her shoes off to try on a pair of high heeled dressing up shoes found that her sensible brown Clark's lace-ups had been purchased by an eagle-eyed and triumphant mother who couldn't believe her good luck.
The headmaster was incoherent with rage, the now shoeless child was distraught and I believe that was the last jumble sale that the school indulged in.

I loved jumble sales when I was a child I used to buy books dolls and dressing up clothes. Sadly none around here now. Would love to go to one again.0
