Please help! I have "hidden" a folder in windows xp and now cannot access any of the files on it because i don't know how.
I know the files are still there because i can share them on kazaa, but is there anyway i can bring them back so i can view them again?
Thanks in advance
Nick

Hi Nick,
If you're using XP (or other Winsows's?), go to folder you think your hidden folder is in, go to Tools > Folder Options, click on the 'View' tab, and there should be an option to 'Show hidden files and folders'. Click 'OK' and hopefully it will be there!0 -
Thankyou very much bigneil that works, i can now access them all again!!
What does hiding a folder actually do anyway? Why hide one? Even though i can now see the files and open them, the icons of files that were in there before i hid it are slightly translucent and it still says hidden folder, but more recent files (since hiding it) are solid.
I see its your first post so welcome to the forum, and thanks again for your help.0 -
Hey, no problem and thanks for the welcome.
Not sure why the function is there. Windows trys to hide files that it thinks you shouldn't tamper with. It may be a security thing, you can right click on any file and make it 'hidden'.
If you want to make it unhidden again, do the right click thing to save any hassle in the future (when Windows decides to default to 'don't show hidden', you know it's going to happen).
Anyway, glad it's sorted!0
