Paid to soon

Hi ,in a bit of a panic here.I have an MBNA credit card with two seperate 0% deals on it.
One of the 0% deals ends 29th March the other December this year.
I have paid in money to pay off the first 0% balance but now hope that MBNA will use it to payoff the first balance and NOT just use it to reduce the whole debit.
Any thoughts please??

Why do you "hope" they'll pay it off the 0% deal ending first? If you read your account T&Cs* you'll know that's exactly what they'll do with it.

    * Section entitled 'allocation of payments' or similar.

Most lenders will allocate it to the promo that ends first. What do your t&cs say?

The only problem could be if the earlier ending BT started after the later ending one. With MBNA promo end date is not taken into consideration, only start date and standard interest rate at end of promo.

    i didn't know that molerat.
the thing to do thebullsback is to consider the above, but call MBNA and ask them. note the date, time, name.
whatever the position is, you need to know so that you can act accordingly.

Nor did I until this thread prompted me to read the little booklet that just happened to be sitting next to the computer ;)
  • Spoke to MBNA today and my payment would NOT have paid off my intended 0% offer but as a goodwill gesture they have refunded my money so I can repay it in on the day my offer ends which will mean the highest interest rate gets paid first.
    Lesson learned.
