why not ask the nursing home what their policy is should this situation arise?
Thanks. The nursing home are evasive when I ask what will happen when mum runs out of money, but I will have to insist on an answer. I have applied unsuccessfully for NHS funding (apparently you have to have tubes in your arm and up your nose to get that).I used to think that good grammar is important, but now I know that good wine is importanter.0 -

The home my mum was in committed to keeping the resident there for life, although a room move might have been necessary. At least then you would know what to expect, rather than being stressed about that along with everything else.
From the experience shared by other people, it's not the home who decides these things but the council. You have to make a strong enough case to the funding committee that moving a resident to another home would cause harm in order to get them to fund the current place.
The council will also try to get relatives to sign up to pay top-up fees but you're not legally obliged to take on this financial responsibility.0
