Kindle fire to TV

Is there any way to connect a 7" kindle fire (5th ed) to a TV A friend bought a micro usb-hdmi that was supposed to work, but didnt.

    I tried various cables and casting dongles but none worked with the kindle fire. It does not have a hdmi out facility or a screen mirroring setting.
