Cat keeps getting upstairs

Options
Right. Really random one this. For the last few weeks we have had to put up with a constant stream of HGVs at night past the house due to a diversion in place on the main link rd from M6 to M1, and i mean constant. All night long. Whole house shakes. However...this vibration has now started to pop the lounge door open. The cat then gets upstairs and wakes me up at all hrs. He's not allowed upstairs so he thinks its time to play. What can you suggest to tether the door once I've gone to bed? But downside is, must also be able to open from inside (human) as housemate's bedroom is off the lounge.

CC limits £26000

Long term CC debt £0

Total low rate loan debt £3000

Almost debt free feeling, priceless.

Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.

Fit a better catch so that the door doesn't pop open.

put a lock on the door and give housemate a key.

Also - have you thought that the noises from the road that make the house shake can also unsettle the poor cat and he/she may be scared all alone and wants company/reassurance?

    |He sounds like a damn clever cat
If you do what sheramber suggest and fit a lock,,,,
hide the key in case he finds it.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.

Can you shut your bedroom door instead? Our cat isn't allowed in our bedroom at night, but we shut our door so he has the run of the rest of the house (rather than shut him in a room).

Assuming your door opens inward (into your room), you could just close it then wedge a jumper along the bottom or something (to stop it swinging open).
