I have been trying to find decent varifocal glasses and recently popped into Asda @ Cribbs Causeway. The assistant -to her credit- said that she knew nothing about the lenses but got the optician Chris to have a word. This guy was fantastic, he knew, and quoted chapter and verse about the lenses they supplied, who made them, where they were made and compared them to the other lense manufacturers. He could have sold me more expensive lenses, but convinced me that theirs were more than adequate. On getting home to Cornwall, I visited the St.Austell Asda and they were equally knowlegable about the lenses, etc. Bought 2 pairs all bells and whistles for £99. Brilliant. Haven't had the glasses yet, so may look stupid if they are carp!!!

I agree with you! My husband recently got two pairs for that price - great quality glasses too - he's really happy with them!

I'm thinking of going to look at varifocal contact lenses - my mind boggles as to how these can work, but worth a look.

I've just got my first varifocals and opted for the ASDA standard lenses thinking I could always upgrade if they didn't work for me. They are brilliant - I couldn't be happier with them. 2 pairs for £130 including thinner lenses and 1 pair with tinted lenses. Great value.

Same here, used ASDA opticians for years and my typos are not their fault

Daughter recently got some swimming goggles made up at the same time which cost less than £20. Bargain.
