Hi
Can anyone recommend a cheap and cheerful hotel near Eurotunnel, will be travelling in Feb and want to try and get to France by Eurotunnel early evening and crash for the night before beginning the onward journey to Austria. It would need to have a room big enough for 4 people.
Thanks

Have you tried www.travelodge.co.uk - the family rooms can sleep 4 adults at a push, although one ended up on the floor. They have hotels in Ashford & Canterbury both 15 miles from the eurotunnel. Rooms should only be £15 if u book early0

I second the Travelodge at Ashford - 20 minutes will get you to the tunnel.:rotfl:0

Sorry didn't make myself very clear, we were hoping to stay at a hotel in Calais, the plan is to get to Calais early evening and stay at a hotel there, get up early and start the onward journey.
Thanks though0 -
Might not be in the direction you want, but we stayed at Arras (one hour from Calais on the A26)this summer in the IBIS which is in the centre of town next to the Grand Place. They had a wonderful market there on the Saturday which somewhat delayed our onward journey to the south of France !
We booked two rooms at the IBIS and I think the total came to about £700 -
Try http://www.accorhotels.com and search for Calais. A variety of hotels from budget upwards. I can recommend them all apart from Formule 1, which are getting a bit frayed round the edges.

Try and get a room at one the Accor hotels right next to Cite d' Europe which as you may know is part of the Channel Tunnel development. Suite Hotel looks like the one you want for sleeping four. The address for the hotels (three of them I think) is Place Cantorbery, Coquelles.
I would recommend staying there as the car parking is in a secure compound, and it saves you all the time & trouble in going back into Calais town. If you do go to any of these hotels I would also recommend that after check in (or before if you prefer) just walking/driving over to the Cite d'Europe complex and getting your evening meal there at one of the many restaurants and also stock up with croissants and juice at Carrefour for the following morning's breakfast.
One last tip, if you apply for a loyalty card at Cite d'Europe customer service desk, you may get discounts at some outlets there plus a free breakfast at the Accor hotel at Place Cantorbery.0 -
Suite Hotel Coquelles - Can only 'see' reservations up to early November but a double bedded room with two singles has a best offer of just over £62 a night, room only.
How's that sound?0 -
If you're looking for cheap and cheerful you could try http://www.hotel-bb.com/index.phtml?NumLangue=2 The CALAIS Coquelles one has family rooms (2 single beds plus a mezzanine level with 2 further beds).0

Yes I second the BB which is near the Auchan in Coquelles, although its about 6 years since we used it so depends if they have kept it up to the original clean and simple design standard. Kids loved the mezzanine ...
Also you can sometimes get a good deal at suitehotel on the Accor Hotels plot at the other end of the main Cite Europe, Coquelles shopping Mall as Victors_Bruvver says... their "suites" are quite fun for the kids too, with kettle and even a min-kitchenette area to heat food if I remember properly. Can draw across a screen between main sleeping area and the other end where the sofabed & pullout are. Check the www.accorhotels.com or http://www.suite-hotel.com/suitehotel/index.html sites for that.0
