Bank account switching major problems

My DRO was granted 08/3. I have a lloyds cash card account no debt or pending charges on this account.

I opened my nationwide flex basic account before this was granted. I requested a switch from my lloyds account to Nationwide. It was due for completion today but lloyds have now blocked this because of the DRO.

Nationwide now know about my DRO so what will happen to this account? I'm
Assuming nationwide will close it?

I've called Lloyds and have been fobbed off time after time. They say I can't close the account its frozen and my practitioner and insolvency service needs to contact them. Then insolvency service has said they have no interest in my accounts.i just want to switch and get this closed.

  • I doubt nationwide will close it. - i opened one before bankcruptcy and told them that is why I opened it and they werw fine, the account is for people with poor credit history.
What do you need to move? Direct debits? Can you not just set these up yourself at nationwide and start using it as your every day account. Obvioisly inform the OR if you need/want about lloyds but if its froze you have go in branch to close so do that

As john says above, why transfer

When I had my IVA part of prep was cancelling all direct debits on old account and setting up new from new account. When I went through list there was only a couple i wanted to keep.

Also a bit paranoid perhaps, but I didn't want old creditors knowing new bank details at all, that way no 'accidents' can occur with them taking money. The new switch process would be a concern as it switches all debits including debit card debits(i had a payday loan debt, who back then had aggressive debit card collection methods)

Nationwide were fine with my IVA, and the criteria were more strict then (you could only open before IVA, not during). Now they and most other banks are oblidged to take anyone regardless of credit (but not if you've been done for fraud)
