I hope this clears things up.

Not really. My points still stand. Checking the manufacturer's site should be the first thing you do.

Why waste time installing unnecessary software unless you need it? Why waste time researching said software to make sure it isn't one of the many hundreds of malicious 3rd party driver utilities?

It's a contradiction to say that it's "paranoid" to use the manufacturer's site, whilst suggesting that you should do some research to make sure your random 3rd party software isn't malicious!

along with MBAM, run ADWCleaner (get it from bleepingcomputer.com). This is absolutely not a driver issue, it's a PUP, at some point you've inadvertently downloaded some carpy prog that's asking you for money.

As for genuine free driver checkers SlimDrivers is also pretty good, been using it for several years. Not used DriveBooster so can't comment....

So is windows 10 but i dont want that either or a dose of something nasty.

Some of its features are windows shortcuts.. Why not click the shortcut yourself and save installing junk?

And its not very good, it wont update a lot of your drivers anyway.
