Hiya Guys:j
I am gonna walk into Curry's on Saturday and ask for:
1. Whirlpool american Fridge Freezer £799.99 (at the moment, may change)
2. Leisure gas range cooker £699.99
3. Black dishwasher (thinking a smeg)
4. 42 inch LCD tele (budgeted £1000)
5. Recordable freeview box (or a recordable dvd player)
6. Nintendo DS
I will be paying cash.
Do you think I will get some money off if I barter a bit, or get things like free fitting?
We are moving into our new home on Friday and will have quite a bit of money from the sale of our house, we have never been able to afford these kinds of things and don't beleive in getting finance, for non essential goods.
Thanks to everyone who replies, I am really excited and nervous.:o So any advice will be gratefully received:beer:

no offence mate but why would you do this?
I would be using price comparison sites - to check each item is the cheapest and
cashback- quidco/ topcashback etc make sure you get some hefty cashback on them too! Youll be lookingf at around 120 quid cashback from quidco anyway! (3.5%)
also check out online codes - eg, john lewis is a great one ( they do sat deliveries) you can usually get at least 20 quid off each thing.
theres a brill DVD recorder at hyper-fi for 20.00 ive been looking at myself. Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -
Sounds like a fun spending spree, I'm jealous! In the spirit of moneysaving though... are you sure Curry's is the best place to be buying all that?
If I were spending that much I'd spend a few minutes researching on comparison websites like kelkoo, pricerunner, etc, to make sure I was getting the best deal (and check out the cashback sites too - quidco etc). It seems unlikely that Curry's would give the lowest price on everything on your list. Even if they are, I'd be tempted to price-match at John Lewis to avoid dealing with the Dixons group's infamous customer service.
Have fun whatever you decide to do :beer:0 -
Thanks for the reply lynzpower.
I have done this and for the dishwasher and the fridgefreezer, Currys is the cheaper option!!!
I thought I would look online to see if I could get them cheaper (thought I would go instore and see if they would pricematch:o ) but was a bit disappointed.
Would the fact that I am spending a few thousand go in my favour when we come to prices?
I am such a novice at this sort of thing, and there is absolutley no offence taken:D0 -
nothing ventured nothing gained , don't be afraid to say you'll look elsewhere if they get stroppy , you can always go back later0

We recently purchased an expensive Samsung HD TV at Currys. We were also paying cash (around £1100), the best they would offer was to buy it at the online price, which was about £50 cheaper.
Good luck, hope you manage to get some good deals0 -

Well if Currys prices for the things you want are best, I'd be verrrrry surprised!!
Look at this TV - EXCELLENT reports for it - & for another once only £20 you get 3years warranty (on nearly everything you buy over £200 the following year !!) - so less than £800 & Currys want £1300 + warranty!!

& the recorder to match

& get this - or similear to plug them into

Do find your favourite items, check the model numbers & www.pricerunner.co.uk them!!
& before you spend - have you got your Capital One 4% cashback card to buy the things on - go to CreditCard board, so Martin gets help with running the site!!

If you do want to haggle ask to chat to the store manager as he/she will probably be the only one that can ok such discounts...

I would be very surprised if you any sort of decnet discount from Currys no matter how much you spend!
My suggestion, if you are intent on buying from the high street, is find out who your local Euronics (independent traders) dealers are and see what they can do for you.
I guarantee you will find cheaper than Currys plus don't forget they charge for delivery and invariably do not not stock at handThe Daily Mail
