How many boxes do you suggest that they put on to cater for people who have more than 1 vehicle?
...and what happens when they write the reg of a vehicle they're not keeper of?

I think I'm also right in saying that the legal implications of not changing your driving license address are different to your V5C anyway. I think the position is that in its own terms it's an offence to not update your driving license, but it is not an offence to have the V5C at the wrong address but if it causes a problem it's your problem. So it's not OK to have your driving license at your parents' address even if they say they'll send on any letters relating to it, but it is OK to do that for a V5C. In the former case the offence is "having a driving license without an accurate address", in the latter it's "not paying your tax and your parking tickets".

Probably dearer than you'd think to implement, but adding the registered keepers driving licence number to the V5 would allow the OPs suggestion to work.

There's no requirement that the registered keeper be a driver, or indeed be a person.

Indeed. I suspect that the majority of vehicles on the road AREN'T registered to people with driving licences.

A fair point that I hadn't considered. It could be optional, but then it just gets even more complicated and expensive. I don't think it's necessary but would address the OP's scenario.

Pausing and thinking would have addressed the OP's situation.

It's common sense, the driving licence has your unique driver number and the V5C for your vehicle is well your reg number. 2 different things.

May I suggest you put the dates on a calender, I do for insurance, MOT, tax and other things.

I know 2 people who share the same names as their Son's.

I suggest you check your MOT also, as we don't have reminders for it, you best check.

I hope you updated your car insurance with the new address.

You get a letter in the post "Sorry you entered an invalid registration number. Address not updated"

    Simple. As.

The greedy car hoarders who have more than one car can fill out a separate form. Not a problem either.

It really is as simple as it sounds to do this sort of thing.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.
